Which DropAir adapter fits
DropAir's documentation lists ecobee for the Mini 6, Mini 6S, Pro 6S and Pro 6X.
Why it needs an adapter
ecobee thermostats run on a 24VAC supply and standard thermostat terminals. VRF, ductless and fan coil units don't offer those. The DropAir adapter gives the ecobee its 24V terminals and passes its commands to the indoor unit, so features like schedules, sensors and voice control work as ecobee designed them.
The SmartSensor
The Premium ships with an ecobee SmartSensor. Put it where you spend the most time and the thermostat can use that room's temperature instead of the hallway's. More sensors can be added later.
Siri and Alexa
The Premium has a built-in smart speaker. You choose Siri or Alexa Built-In. ecobee notes that Siri needs a compatible Apple home hub such as a HomePod or HomePod mini.
