Which DropAir adapter fits
DropAir's documentation lists ecobee for the Mini 6, Mini 6S, Pro 6S and Pro 6X.
Why it needs an adapter
The Essential is a 24V thermostat. Gulf VRF, split and ducted systems use the AC maker's own control connection instead of 24V terminals. The DropAir adapter bridges the two and powers the thermostat.
The C wire question
ecobee sells a Power Extender Kit for homes without a C wire. On a DropAir install you don't need it, because the adapter supplies the 24V power over the thermostat cable.
